Meet Dave Congrove
MC Consulting Agency is Dave Congrove. He puts his vast experience in broadcasting to work for you. Dave began his career as a full-time afternoon drive DJ in his small Virginia hometown at the age of 16, but his on-air talent quickly opened the door to the larger markets of Roanoke (VA), Florida's Treasure Coast, West Palm Beach and Jacksonville. Along the way, he took on more responsibility as Program Director and Operations Manager.
His first foray into sales began in West Palm Beach as the Production Manager of a 100,000-watt station that reached nearly a full quarter of Florida's population. His sole duty was to create and produce advertising campaigns that would be memorable, entertaining and successful. Some of this work was so over-the-top that listeners would call to request a commercial. One such campaign was for the builders of an upscale development in which a pair of popular animated characters had a humorous interplay over "a manatee" and "amenities". A footwear retailer campaign featured a pair of shoes discussing their polar opposite day in an elevator at the mall, and a tongue-twisting 30-second poem titled "The Tale Of Billy Barter's Boo-Boo" helped a locally-owned waterbed store run its chain retail competitors out of business.
The station was virtually sold out of ad inventory for the duration of his stay.
From there, his focus shifted into advertising sales where Congrove put all of his previous broadcasting experience to good use and needed just three months to become top biller by putting the goals of his clients first.
That success led to a Sales Manager position at a different station in the same market, and the lions' share of his accounts followed him to an outlet they had not previously used. Ultimately, several of his clients persuaded him to "go it alone" and be free to place their advertising on whichever stations made the most sense for them.
